I bought this laser pointer on January 11, 2010. It worked great up until about May 2010. The problem is not the beam, as it is very easy to see in a lecture hall. The problem is the button that one needs to press to get the green laser to shine. By May this button became very loose on my unit to the point where the laser comes on even with the slightest touch. If you hold this in your hand you will find the laser light coming out at times when you really don't want it. My unit is so sensitive that I basically don't feel comfortable using it in a lecture or presentation where other people are around (including me). Note that when I first got this pointer the button had a very definite and secure feel and there was no need to worry about accidentally engaging the laser.
The pros of this pointer are:
1) Very bright and easy to see beam.
2) The body seems well constructed.
The cons of this pointer are:
1) Apparently the button wears out with typical usage over a several months
2) It doesn't like certain types of rechargeable batteries (I had problems with some brands)
My search continues for a decent laser pointer.

This is a great laser with a very visible bright green beam. I recommend buying some extra strength lithium batteries for and even brighter more powerful beam

Great laser...got it for the dog to chase after my cheaper one stopped working.
I had no idea a hand held laser could be so bright...watch the eyes folks! It will luminesce water vapor, dust, or anything else in the air along the laser's path.
It is constructed well (the button is a little jiggly, but that is a small nit pick that doesn't affect performance).
After I used it more, it did seem that the brightness dims/fluctuates a little (maybe due to batteries), but it is still more adequate in the dimmed state.

Although I never received this item because of Australian Customs,Im Sure this item was fantastic and did what it should have done a friendly tip mark the thing as a gift next time!

This is one wicked powerful laser pointer. It is solid built and for the price a complete steal. As a side note, that green dot will keep your cat bouncing around with enjoyment every time you bring it out.
