 "a decent value" 2010-06-04
By The Delite Rancher (Phoenix, Arizona)
The 4 in 1 is a decent item. As the title indicates, this is a laser pointer, PDA stylus, led light and a pen. For such an inexpensive item, it's reasonably well made. The pen actually works. The stylus and pen can alternate by turning the bottom portion of the 4 in 1. The light is the most flawed element of this product. The problem appears to be with the button. The light will sometimes turn on unintentionally and the button may need to be pressed up to ten times to turn off. This flakiness eats up significant battery power. I presume that most consumers purchase this product for the laser pointer. The red laser works surprisingly well. Taking a step back, the 4 in 1 is very stylish in appearance. It takes three LR41 batteries. While these aren't the most accessible batteries, the thinner laser pens usually use the harder to find button cells. While they're easy enough to get through Amazon, I have to imagine that the pen filament would be difficult to replace. The 4 in 1 ultimately asks a question, who needs a laser pointer and flashlight combined? Is this for the consultant who wants to be ready for that time when the electricity cuts out during his presentation? The fact that the item doesn't have an actual name, manufacturer or listed country of origin is a bit unsettling. If you're looking for a high quality laser pointer and you're willing to pay for it, get the Apollo Executive. If you'd like to save twenty bucks and get by for the time being, the 4 in 1 is a good value.

"Good value for money at $10 + $5 for the lowest shipping fee" 2008-10-17
By Professor E. Knight (Miami, Florida)
List price is apparently $25. I paid over $10 a few weeks ago. When I started writing this review the other day, it was selling for $3.99 (plus $5 for the lowest shipping fee!). But today the price went up to $10

I thought of ordering several units the other day at $3.99 to offer for Christmas, together with the usual Roussel chocolates that I always give to my closest family. True, Marilyn sang that "diamonds are a girl's best friends", but professors can only offer chocolates. Let's not forget, however, that our "reward is in Heaven", as I recently heard on a famous debate on TV...

Unfortunately, the price went up between the other day and today, so I'll have to stick to my chocolates!

This product seems to be solid and has the convenience of offering a black ball pen, a stylus to use with my PDA or Sony 46 camcorder, and two other features. You must hold the lower edge with your fingers and turn the upper part to the right for the stylus or to the left for the pen with your other hand. It's very hard to do it with only one hand, unlike another 4 in 1 pen that I have, where I hold it horizontally and just press a button on top, or my great 4 colors Waterman (which is over 40 years old and I still use in class!) where I just push the side buttons down to change colors. Since I have never made a living on anything heavier than a pen, I have plenty of them...

It also has a LED light that is very convenient if you must find your way in a staircase without emergency lights (which I have seen more than once!); and finally, it even has a laser pointer that I never use but which can be handy for a lecture with projections. I would have preferred a pencil instead of the red pointer, like a plastic 4 in 1 pen that I have, for which I also paid more than $10 last year and that is broken already: I had to band it all around with scotch tape. This new pen seems to be stronger thanks to its metal case.

Let me add that it comes in a nice case with three extra button batteries that will cost more to replace than the price of the pen itself!

The only problem that I see so far (which explains the four stars instead of five) is that the grip has no rounded center part like my old Waterman or my fancy Parker pens (which are also about forty years old!) leaving two sharp edges that will eventually tear your shirt pocket. But this pen is so practical that I accept this inconvenience. I will try to soften the stiff grip by leaving it overnight with the blade of a small screwdriver between the pen and the grip but I always forget to do it, so I don't know if it will work.

At $4 like the other day, it was an outstanding value for money (that's the price of two rides - without transfers - in our horrendous Miami public transportation system!); but at $10 + $5 for S & H, I will say it's just OK.

I notice by the way that prices seem to go up and down like the Dow Jones, which is something that I refuse to accept. Five days ago (October 12 exactly) Amazon was selling the Garmin Nuvi 770 GPS for less than $319 ($318 and change); and it clearly said: "In Stock. Ships from and sold by Amazon.com." And it was also eligible for free shipping. Today, when I checked to see if it had gone down again (which would have helped me make up my mind...) it sells for $350! And since I don't like gambling, I won't buy it either until it goes down to the price that was marked last October 12!

"The "Executive Style 4-in-1 Pan - Laser Pointer - LED Flashlight - PDA Stylus" works satisfyingly" 2008-07-02
By Min Song
This laser pointer is a very good deal. As you should know, it has a laser pointer, light, pen, and stylus. It has satisfying work, compared to the over-priced big-brand name laser pointers. In my package, which I ordered from Instapark, It has batteries already in it and a fresh and free 3 batteries to come with it. The pen and stylus work fine. The laser pointer is good, but sometimes you must shake the pen to make it work. Same with the light, but more often. I took apart the pen, and in the battery section, at the top, I took them out. The spring holding the batteries and circuiting the power to the laser pointer and light was sort of out of place, explaining why you have to shake it every now and then. I have only had this pen for about 2 days, and so far no major problems yet. Overall, I would recommend this pen to people who would like cheaper prices, for a cost of a bit less quality.
